Threads of Change is a volunteer run non profit organization dedicated to offering meaningful help to children in foster care.
We operate a ‘store’ where foster parents and foster children can ‘shop’ for items they need. Our store includes clothing, toys, furniture and child care items. All items are provided to foster children free of charge.
How do I shop for my foster children?
Before visiting our store, or utilizing any of our programs we require all foster families to register with us. Register with us
Once foster families register with us they can visit the store during any of our open hours.
What items are available at the store?
Our inventory varies greatly based on donations we receive. We always have racks of clothing – sizes new born up to young adult. We also stock many times of toys and books as well as baby equipment such as cribs, highchairs, strollers and bouncers. Larger items, including beds and dressers, are offered when available If you have a specific item you are looking for please contact us before visiting us at the store as we may have the item stored in one of our off site locations.
I just received a placement and I don’t have anything for this child! What can you help me with?
We have a special section of the store just for new placements. This section includes new socks and underwear, nightlights, bedding, new toys, toiletry items and new car seats. All items are based on availability.
What other services do you offer for foster families?
We host a private online support group that families can be invited to join after they visit the store in person. In the future we hope to expand our services for foster families and hope to be able to offer an in person support group, training specific to foster and adoptive families, a lending library and more.
